Lars Hvilsted Rasmussen

MD, PhD, FESC
Dr Rasmussen is a specialist in cardiology and internal medicine. He is an associate professor in cardiology at Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark, and is now head of the Thrombosis Research Unit at Aarhus University Hospital. He was previously Head of Cardiology at the same hospital’s Heart Centre Aalborg, from 2000–2008.
 
He is an advisor in cardiology and thrombosis to the National Board of Health and is also the Vice President of the Danish Heart Foundation.
 
Dr Rasmussen is the chairman of the working group on thrombosis of the Danish Society of Cardiology (DCS) and a member of the board of the working group on thrombosis of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He is also past president of the Danish Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
 
He has been a board member of the DCS with responsibility for relations with the ESC. He is currently the ESC’s National Society Guideline Coordinator for the DCS.
 
Dr Rasmussen is a core group member of the Coalition Against Venous Thrombo-Embolism (VTE), in which he represents the ESC Working Group on Thrombosis. 
 
He is a national coordinating investigator and member of both steering and executive steering committees of several international multi-centre trials on thrombosis. In addition, he has acted as chairman of several national and international symposiums and courses in the field of thrombosis.
